German shares close 0.80 pct higher

FRANKFURT, Feb. 24 (Xinhua) -- German stocks rose on Wednesday, with the benchmark DAX index up 111.19 points, or 0.80 percent, to close at 13,976.00 points.

Aircraft engine manufacturer MTU Aero won the most among the blue chips, with its shares up 5.96 percent. Multinational building materials company HeidelbergCement and multinational chemical and pharmaceutical company Bayer gained 3.40 percent and 3.32 percent respectively.

European multinational online food-delivery service Delivery Hero, housing associations Deutsche Wohnen and Vonovia were the top three losers among the blue chips, falling 3.02 percent, 1.26 percent and 1.16 percent respectively.

German insurance and financial services company Allianz was the most-traded share with a turnover of 307.17 million euros (373.09 million U.S. dollars).

China's Haier, a leading global household appliances manufacturer listed in Frankfurt in 2018, lost 0.48 percent to close at 2.070 euros per share on Wednesday.
